On February 8, Google is hosting a “Search, Maps and More”event. Will it be about artificial intelligence?

Google has announced a streaming event called “Live from Paris”that will focus on “Search, Maps and More”- in other words, search, mapping and more – this Wednesday, February 8th, on Youtube. “We are reimagining how people search, explore and interact with information, making finding what you need more natural and intuitive than ever before,” the description reads.

Who knows, maybe this “outside”will be related to future plans to counter competitor ChatGPT. During the presentation of Google’s financial results, Sundar Pichai finally announced the project of a conversational system based on artificial intelligence inside the American giant. “In the coming weeks and months, we will make language models available, starting with LaMDA, so that people can directly interact with them,” he explained. Google also plans to make some of these AI tools available to businesses, developers, and Alphabet’s own internal operations.

Will it be about artificial intelligence?

Last month, the Google CEO issued a red code against OpenAI ChatGPT technology, which poses a serious threat to Google’s dominance of the search market. Especially since Microsoft is a big investor in ChatGPT, and the Redmond-based firm is working on integrating this AI into its Bing search engine to offer more natural results for web users.

Previously, there were rumors that Google might showcase its AI tools during an I/O event, which usually takes place in May. It’s still a possibility, of course, but it also seems very likely that the American giant doesn’t want to be too far behind OpenAI and ChatPGT in particular.

On the other hand, this event could be all about search and display, products that users use on a daily basis. In the video below, Google also hints at lens, purchase, and translation information. The event will be streamed live on YouTube on February 8 at 14:30.
