80 million Apple iPhone 14 OLED panels to be purchased from Samsung
The next version of the iPhone is expected to arrive sometime in September. According to the leaks, the iPhone 14 series will consist of four devices – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Recently, a report surfaced online claiming that Apple is reconsidering the use of BOE OLED panels for the upcoming iPhone 14 series. Now, according to a new report from ETNews, for the iPhone 14 series, Apple will import about 80 million display panels from Samsung Display.
The report also says that mass production and delivery of these 80 million displays is expected in the third quarter of this year, that is, in July-September. Let’s take a closer look at the details.
An ETNews report says that these 80 million Samsung OLED panels will be used in all four models. The report also shows that 38.17 million Samsung OLED panels will be reserved for both the entry-level iPhone 14 and the high-end iPhone 14 Pro Max.
For those who don’t know, Apple is expected to launch two 6.1-inch models – iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. similar to last year. The brand is said to launch two 6.7-inch models, the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Some of these devices will use LTPS OLED panels and some will use LTPO OLED displays. We can expect Apple to only use LTPO panels on the Pro models.
Earlier this month, Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, suggested that only the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max would get the A16 chip. Whereas Apple will continue to use last year’s A15 chip for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. However, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are expected to come with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Whereas, Pro models will get LPDDR5 RAM according to another report.
The Apple iPhone 14 Pro series is said to feature a dual-notch display that will include a pill-shaped notch and a round notch. While regular models will have a notch like the iPhone 13.
