Meet Vivo Y55 5G with MediaTek 700 SoC, 4GB RAM: price, specs, features

Smartphone maker Vivo has announced a new mid-range smartphone called the Vivo Y55 5G in Taiwan. The phone is said to have a 60Hz display and a triple camera on the back, just like most other modern mid-range smartphones.

This appears to be the same device that has been leaked several times since last November, meaning that Vivo is likely starting to roll out the device in certain markets now.

The Vivo Y55 5G is priced at NT$7,990, which is roughly $290, but its final price may be lower.

Specifications and features of Vivo Y55

As seen in a leak that came through a Geekbench test back in November, the Vivo Y55 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

In addition, the triple camera on the back consists of a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a second 2MP depth sensor. There’s also a 5,000mAh battery inside that supports 18W fast charging, and the device runs Vivo’s Funtouch OS 12 native operating system, which runs on top of Android 11 out of the box.

The Vivo Y55 5G features a 6.58-inch FHD display with a pixel density of 441 ppi. It has a 20:9 aspect ratio, a waterdrop notch that houses the front camera, and an 81 percent screen-to-body ratio. There is a power button and a volume rocker on the left side of the device, and there is also an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

It’s also worth noting that the prices above are for the 4GB/128GB device variant and there is only one version for this phone in Taiwan. It is not clear if vivo will have multiple variants with different prices. Of course, currently 4 GB of RAM is usually reserved for budget devices in the country.
