You can now play Doom in Doom II
The developer allows you to play Doom in Doom II. A hack that allows you to do some pretty funny and confusing things.
Doom is a cult game among cult games. A game that is also very old and actually requires very limited resources to run. This allows you to play on very unlikely devices. Examples abound, sometimes without any interest, just to show that it’s possible. Today, the developer has taken it a step further by allowing Doom… to be played in Doom II.

In recent years, we’ve seen Doom playable from a DJ mixer, Canon printer, ATM, and even Minecraft. YouTuber kgsws followed the path of Inception by developing a playable version of Doom in Doom II. Only that!
To do this, he exploited a flaw in the DOS version of Doom II, according to Gizmodo. A modder who explains the whole process in a 15-minute YouTube video was able to make a modern port of Doom (Chocolate Doom that uses the game’s original source code) capable of running Doom II as an animated texture. The original game is projected onto a virtual screen on a custom Doom II map created by kgsws.

Other maps were designed to show the possibilities of this project, including the same instance of Doom spinning on four walls surrounding the player, and a movie screen projecting the game. In addition, kgsws showed the Heretic game running in Doom.
You can even try this hack yourself, as kgsws has shared the code on GitHub. You can download the DOS version of Doom II from Steam. However, you’ll need a gaming PC “powerful”enough to run Doom in Doom II: “The two games run independently of each other,”kgsws explains. “That means you need twice as much memory. Therefore, I would recommend having at least 16 MB of RAM.”
