Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 leaks, Samsung confirms August 10 launch

Samsung’s next major product launch event is officially scheduled for August 10th. Following an earlier leak from Evan Blass aka Evleaks stating this date, Samsung’s Twitter account more or less confirmed the puzzle report with “081022”as the answer. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Watch 5 and Buds2 Pro headphones are expected at the exhibition. Samsung is having a great time because there are more leaks today. Evan Blass and 91Mobiles have released official renderings of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.

The appearance of both devices has not changed much, but there are rumors that we are waiting for larger sizes and internal changes. Leaker Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Fold will once again be a little shorter and wider. The Fold 3’s external screen is very short and thin, which can lead to layout issues, an overall feeling of being cramped, and a small keyboard. Shortening and expanding the Z Fold 4 will bring the front screen closer to the phone’s normal aspect ratio. Inside, the shorter, wider screen should help with split-screen media and content, where the split would be closer to two regular smartphones next to each other.

Don’t believe the claims that Fold4 and Fold3 are very similar.

If you want to see the Z Fold 4 from other angles, these unofficial renders from Onleaks and Smartprix are your best bet . There are conflicting reports about the thickness of the device. The Onleaks render measures Z Fold 4 155×130×7.1mm. It’s shorter, wider, and thicker than the 158.2×128.1×6.4mm Fold 3. Meanwhile, Ice Universe goes on to say that the Fold 4 is “thinner”than the Fold 3 while still retaining a 4,400mAh battery (same as the Fold 3).

We don’t usually complain about phone thickness – more battery and less camera bumps are usually a good thing, but thickness is a major issue for foldable phones. Those dimensions match the phone when it’s open, so when folded, you double that thickness for a device that’s at least 14.2mm thick. Samsung’s hinges don’t fold, so on the 6.4mm-thick Fold 3 when folded, you’re actually looking at a 16mm wedge. If you’re trying to fit this into your pocket, this is a lot to carry around.

Most reports contain some vague whisper that Samsung is redesigning the hinge to either lighten the weight of the phone or try to reduce the creases in the display. However, I haven’t seen any concrete explanation of what Samsung is up to. The specs should be the usual flagship fare, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC will ship to all countries. We’ll know a lot more about what’s going on inside this phone in just a few weeks.
