Apple is investing in original podcasts with the ability to launch new movies and Apple TV+ shows.

Apple is no stranger to funding original podcasts. The company already has a few ready-made, especially those for additional content for Apple TV+ shows. But it turns out that Apple is looking to increase investment while continuing to oversee the creation of new series and movies for its video streaming platform.

This is revealed in a recent Bloomberg report, which says that Apple is increasing its investment in original podcasts thanks to a deal it has with production company Futuro Studios. It is a Pulitzer Prize-winning production company for titles such as the criminal justice series Polite.

The agreement states that Apple will invest in original podcasts in the future, both in development and production, and then have first-view options to turn those podcasts into a movie or series for Apple TV+.

What’s wild is that Apple has reportedly been battling for this sort of deal with other manufacturing companies for quite some time now, and has spent over $10 million to make the dream a reality.

This process makes sense, as Apple can gauge the popularity of the project. Especially when it comes to crime content, which is a popular way to tell stories through podcasts. Apple has documentaries and more based on true events already streaming on Apple TV+.

As mentioned above, Apple already has several original podcasts. This includes shows that are directly linked to your existing Apple TV+, including shows like For All Mankind. But there are original titles like “Project Unabom”and “Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy”among others.

Apple won’t turn every idea into a new TV show or movie, but it will help create a library for the video streaming service. Which is always good.
