Codename Vanguard: A free-to-play multiplayer game from Remedy Entertainment that’s not yet in development

Remedy Entertainment is postponing the start of development on Codename Vanguard and will begin special recruitment starting next year.

Codename Vanguard, a free-to-play multiplayer and co-op game to be co-published with Tencent, is still in proof-of-concept at Remedy Entertainment since its announcement:

We have decided to leave the game in its current proof-of-concept phase for a little longer and defer a significant expansion of the development team until 2023. This will give us time to continue designing and developing key elements of the game before moving on to the next phase of development, even if it means postponing certain development costs into the future.

Several projects in Remedy Entertainment boxes

The Alan Wake 2 development team has reached its maximum size, and work on the new part continues at full speed on all fronts. Max Payne 1&2 Remake is currently being developed by a small team:

This ambitious AAA project allows us to bring the original world, story and characters to life for today’s huge gaming audience. Max Payne is a very motivating game for our team and plays well with many of our strengths. The game has good commercial potential with well-managed risks, and this allows us to exploit and enhance the production and technology synergies between our projects.

Control knowledge will expand over the next few years

Development of Codename Condor, Control’s multiplayer spin-off, is progressing at a decent pace. It has just moved from proof-of-concept to pre-production. Codename Heron, the sequel to Control, is in the prototype stage:

For now, we’re keeping the development team small and giving them time to refine the concept of the game before expanding the team and moving the project into proof-of-concept.
