Gran Turismo 7: Dior is preparing exclusive accessories and a personal collectible car
Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment are teaming up with Dior to create racing gear and personalize De Tomaso Mangusta in the colors of the fashion brand for Gran Turismo 7.
Custom-designed by British designer and Dior Mens Creative Director Kim Jones, the Gran Turismo 7 racing apparel collection will include a yellow and gray racing suit, matching gloves, reinterpreted Diorizon shoes, and a blue and gray helmet. The special number 47 was included in the design to commemorate the date of Christian Dior’s first fashion show in 1947, which cemented the brand’s success. This collection highlights the unique characteristics of Dior design in a virtual universe for the first time. All of these items, plus the De Tomaso Mangusta Special Edition, will be available in the PS5 game developed by Polyphony Digital starting August 25th.

“We partnered with Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment to create a car for Gran Turismo 7, as well as a race suit, helmet, boots and gloves – all in all, a complete sports outfit,” says Lucy Bieden, Director of Menswear at Gran Turismo 7. Dior. “The starting point was the glamorous ads for Dior Parfums from the 1960s to the 1980s, which were kind of a reminder of this glamorous lifestyle. Various spirits sponsored car races such as the Dakar Rally or the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For the car, we worked on an incredible and limited edition De Tomaso Mangusta. We chose cream color for this one. Its shape is so solid and it’s covered in all those sponsor logos, so we wanted the car itself to look understated. 1947 is a very important date for us. This year, Christian Dior founded the House.
A member of the art team adds: “This collaboration was designed holistically, from the car to the outfit. These are beautiful colors, they are poppy but not too flashy. Sponsorship has been placed in specific locations. We used the right logos for the right period, just like we use the logos of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as “CD Diamond”. The “Dior Oblique”logo was used in a thinner and more toned look. The sole of the boots is already in Diorizon. We changed the surface to something sportier and closer to what a car shoe should be. In the history of gaming as well as racing cars, we consider yellow to be something rather iconic.
The idea of a major French fashion house collaborating with the most iconic racing game was brilliant, and we think the latest edition of Gran Turismo is so rich in terms of options and luxury that it’s the perfect match for this project.”we think yellow is something pretty iconic.”
