Overwatch 2 controller or mouse – which is better?
Overwatch 2 is out on PC and consoles, and it’s free to play, so anyone can try it out, even if you’ve never played OW1. There is also a cross-progression option for which you need to merge your accounts. This means you can switch from a PC game to a console game without losing your progress. But if you’re wondering which is better for Overwatch 2 – a controller or a keyboard and mouse, here’s my two cents.
Overwatch 2 controller vs keyboard and mouse – which is better?
Overwatch 2 is a hero shooter, just like Apex Legends, Valorant, and Team Fortress 2. A core element of these multiplayer games is weapons, which may or may not be hero-specific, depending on the game. There will also be abilities that, when used correctly, can turn the tide in your favor or against you. So in the end it depends on what you prefer and what you are good at. Your aim, quick reflexes, and mouse/controller skill will determine which platform you’ll enjoy OW2 on the most.
Aiming works differently on both and it’s the biggest difference that can completely change your performance in the game. If you’re better at headshots with a mouse and generally have more accuracy, Overwatch 2 is best played on PC. On the other hand, many players are very good with the controller and can move from one enemy to another with a single movement of the analog stick with extreme precision. There is also a chance that you may experience difficulties playing Overwatch 2 with a controller, even if you are well versed in its use.
In my experience, Overwatch 2 is best played with a keyboard and mouse rather than a controller, just for better control and aim.
Does Overwatch 2 have controller support on PC?
If you’re more comfortable using a controller even on PC, thankfully this option is available because Overwatch 2 supports both Xbox and PS controllers.
Overwatch 2 Aim Assist – PC vs Console
That’s the problem. When console players play together, they get aim assist. But when console players play with a PC pool via cross-platform play, aim assist appears to be disabled in Overwatch 2. Here’s a Reddit post by user u/KellySweetHeart that got a lot of support thanks to the comments. Be sure to read the discussion to find out more.
Can Crossplay friends play Competitive in Overwatch 2?
The discussion of aim assist between PC and console players is outdated and it can be difficult in such scenarios. Overwatch 2 is really trying to keep fair between player restrictions on both console and PC because it doesn’t allow cross-play in competitive mode. But if you want to play cross-platform play with your friends, other game modes are available, such as Quick Play, Arcade, and more. I tried to join the Xbox pool only, but matchmaking took a long time. I then tried to join the console pool and was able to join quickly. Matchmaking can be the fastest if you enable crossplay with PC players.
That’s all it takes to play Overwatch 2 with a keyboard and mouse or controller. To learn more about Overwatch 2, check out our guides.
