LG Introduces DualUp Monitor with Unique 16:18 Aspect Ratio

LG is designing a new monitor. LG DualUp offers a unique 16:18 aspect ratio.

Most monitors and displays currently available on the market are in landscape format. Obviously, and quite logically, some users may prefer to orient their screens vertically in order to better read websites, code, or their news feeds, etc. But in most cases, horizontal is more or less the standard. Some products, however, are thought out and designed for vertical use, as is the case today with this new test from LG.

LG formalizes new monitor

LG is trying to stand out and shake up the market a bit by formalizing a brand new monitor called the DualUp. This is a very unique 16:18 aspect ratio. As you can see in the photo above, the result is an almost square monitor, actually a 27.6-inch rectangular monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 2880 pixels.

This monitor also has an Ergo leg that allows you to attach it to a table instead of just leaning on it. According to an LG press release, this size and ratio is equivalent to two 21.5-inch screens stacked one on top of the other. It’s hard to say how many users might be interested in making this their primary display, but as a secondary display, it would allow apps to be stacked on top of each other rather than side by side, which isn’t necessarily a bad idea.

That being said, we can imagine that some users would prefer the flexibility offered by a more traditional monitor, a monitor that they can orient vertically or horizontally whenever they want to suit their needs without getting stuck vertically. But all this is very objective. At the moment, no one knows how much this LG DualUp monitor will cost. To be continued!
