New Call of Duty Mobile Game: Activision Acquires New Studio to Support Mobile Games Division
The future of the Call of Duty franchise looks set to thrive on more than just consoles and PC, as it looks like Activision means business when it comes to mobile gaming. As part of its move into mobile gaming, Activision recently formed Solid State, which will work in tandem with Beenox and Activision Shanghai on a new AAA Call of Duty game for mobile devices.
To support their efforts, Activision has made another acquisition, Digital Legends, which will support Beenox, Activision Shanghai and Solid State in a new Call of Duty game for mobile devices. The team has previously worked on many successful mobile games such as The Respawnables and Afterpulse.
New Call of Duty mobile game now looks even more realistic
Activision announced its plans to release a new COD game for mobile devices earlier this year, hinted at by a job listing on Activision’s Careers page. The as-yet-unannounced Call of Duty game will be led by Activision’s newly formed in-house studio, Solid State.
“This is an incredible team of development professionals at Digital Legends and we are thrilled to welcome them to the Activision team,” said Rob Kostic, President of Activision. “This is a big step forward as we continue to create additional world-class development resources focused on creating exciting and innovative content for our players.”
This is certainly a bold move by Activision and a positive sign for COD Mobile fans that they may soon have a new game alongside the already successful Call of Duty Mobile. It will be interesting to see what kind of experience the new game will be, and whether it will be different from COD Mobile or a kind of continuation in the style of PUBG New State.
