Opa334 reports that the Fugu15 Max semi-private jailbreak is now available for developers to test jailbreak settings on non-rooted devices.
TrollStore developer @opa334 shared an interesting feed of tweets over the weekend showing significant progress on the Fugu15 jailbreak tool for arm64e devices running iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1.
In a tweet, @opa334 revealed that a developer-only semi-private build of Fugu15 Max is now available on request to trusted jailbreak tweak developers who want to start updating their jailbreak tweaks to support this and rootless dynamics.
Fugu15 Max is of course a derivative of Fugu15 that solves some of the main problems of the original jailbreak since it was abandoned by creator Linus Henze when it was announced last October. These include fixing the Wi-Fi bug and starting the implementation of the settings.
In subsequent tweets, @opa334 reported that some things are still missing from the jailbreak before it can be considered for public release. These things supposedly include:
- User space reload support
- User interface
- Support for devices with A14 chip
While @opa334 hopes he can fix the above issues, he doesn’t know exactly how long it will take. He gave a rough estimate of 2 to 6 weeks, but we suggest taking these numbers with a pinch of salt, as we don’t know what surprises might come up as the problem-solving work progresses. It’s also clear from past tweets that @opa334 doesn’t want to rush the release because he wants the user experience to be as good as possible.
Jailbreak tweak developers wishing to start a semi-private build of Fugu15 for Mac can contact @opa334 using any of his contact methods.
To help developers create non-rooted dynamics materials, @opa334 shared a link to a GitHub page about full support for rootless access to Theos, a toolkit that jailbreak developers have been using for jailbreak customization for a long time.
If you’ve been patiently waiting for the combination of supported device and firmware for Fugu15, then it looks like Fugu15 Max is worth it. Although there is no specific ETA for release yet, the overall progress gives us nothing but positive thoughts about the future of the project.
