Elden Ring Tops the Steam Sales Chart for February 2022
According to SteamDB, Elden Ring topped the Steam bestseller list for the week ending February 27, 2022. The game recently hit its all-time peak on Twitch with over 700,000 views, and if it can keep up with the numbers it’s betting on Steam, it could very well be one of the biggest releases of the year.
Elden Ring is ranked 4th in the top 5 Steam sellers and Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Deluxe Edition is ranked 4th. FromSoftware’s standout opus should have always been a pretty big deal given the amount of fanfare and anticipation leading up to its release, but few optimists could have predicted such a massive blockbuster success.
Based on UK physical sales statistics, it looks like the majority of sales are from the PlayStation.
Elden Ring could be one of the biggest releases of the year
In our review of the game, we mentioned that Elden Ring makes certain gameplay compromises that make the game more accessible than previous souls. This was done to accommodate the open world setting and perhaps because of this, the game could be a bit more welcoming to new players.
This does not mean that the game has lost the edge that makes this genre so attractive, because it is still quite harsh. 2022 could be the year of Elden Ring as it could easily be one of the biggest releases of the year.
Other major releases this year include Horizon Forbidden West, which also came out recently. Another big hit planned for this year is Santa Monica Studios’ God of War Ragnarok, a top notch PlayStation game.
The competition is high, but FromSoftware’s soul-like masterpiece is off to a pretty good start and has a chance to grow into something more.
