Embark Studios’ Discovery Project Coming Before ARC Raiders
The recent postponement of collaborative sci-fi first-person shooter ARC Raiders allows Embark Studios to bet on multiplayer first-person shooter Project Discovery for later this year.
Patrick Soderlund, CEO and founder of Embark Studios, announces that Project Discovery is more advanced than ARC Raiders, which explains the shift in priority between the two projects:
Along with ARC Raiders, we’ve been working on a team-based first-person shooter codenamed Project Discovery for several years now. We’re lucky to have some very talented people with a lot of FPS experience, and development on Project Discovery has moved faster than we thought, especially in the last few months. So much so that we started considering releasing two games at the same time. For a young, relatively small studio like ours, releasing two games in a row would require a strain on our teams and resources, many of which are shared between the two projects.
Our CEO and co-founder Patrick just posted a short post about what’s next for Embark, read it here ? https://t.co/cINRAtQKK1 pic.twitter.com/sygCtkV3Bt

Embark Studios will soon present Project Discovery
Embark Studios, attached to Nexon for three years, is one of the structures that should allow the Korean giant to establish itself in the West, especially on consoles, and this will go against all expectations of Project Discovery as its first project:
Therefore, we have decided that Project Discovery will be the first game released by our studio, which pushes the release of ARC Raiders to 2023. This decision will also allow us to expand and improve the ARC Raiders experience. The world of ARC Raiders is exceptionally fun and offers many ways to play. This spring, we began designing and prototyping a PvP-focused game mode in the ARC Raiders universe, and we look forward to devoting more time to it before the game launches. Once we’re ready to test ARC Raiders with more players, we’ll dive into the details of the game, its promises, and its beautiful (but deadly) world. And without going into spoilers,
