Apple’s Free iPhone 12 Repair Program Extended for Another Year

Apple has extended its free maintenance program for iPhone 12 speaker problems by a year. It is now valid for three years after the first retail sale of the device.

• What is happening? Apple has expanded the free iPhone 12 service recall program due to no audio issues since the initiative’s initial launch in 2021.
• Why care? Because some iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices have speaker issues resulting in no sound during phone calls and other issues.

Apple Extends iPhone 12 Audio Troubleshooting Program

The repair program now covers eligible iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices for up to three years worldwide from date of purchase, up from two years previously.

“If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not emit audio from the receiver when you make or receive calls, it may be eligible for service,” Apple notes.

This issue only affects iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. According to the iPhone manufacturer, the problem is related to a component that could fail in the receiver module.
