Ark Survival Evolved Mutation Guide

Ark Survival Evolved Mutation Guide

Ark Survival Evolved is a survival adventure game from Studio Wildcard. Here you find yourself on a desert island filled with wonders of the past, present and future. Dinosaurs are an important part of this game so you can tame, breed and ride them. Breeding allows a player to have more of the same Creature if they have both a male and a female of that creature. Sometimes, during Breeding, the children of a Creature receive certain Mutations. Mutations change the attributes of a Creature that the parents did not originally have. In this guide, I will show you what Mutations you can get in Ark Survival Evolved.

What kinds of mutations can you get in Ark Survival Evolved?

As I mentioned above, Mutations are random changes in a certain Quality or attribute of a Creature obtained during reproduction. You can get 2 types of mutations: color mutations and trait mutations. These are the two types of mutations you can get in Ark Survival Evolved.

Color mutations are mutations that change the base color of a child creature in one or more color areas. The colored areas are the visible parts of the Creature that the player can see. All creatures have 6 color regions, but not all regions are used by every creature. For example, the Dodo Bird uses all 6 regions, while the Dread Bear uses only 2 color regions.

Stat mutations are an increase in one of the modifiable characteristics of a creature. This type of mutation increases a random stat by 2 levels as a base stat. The Speed parameter will not change if a mutation hits it, and the Root parameter cannot be changed.

You can find out if the cub has received a mutation if its base level is 2 levels higher than the base level of its parents. If it receives 2 mutations, the level difference will be 4, and for 3 mutations, the level difference will be 6. The creature’s chances of getting a mutation are as follows:

  • 7.31% for one mutation.
  • 0.184% for double mutation.
  • 0.00156% for triple mutation.

These values are halved if the parent creature has more than 20 mutations from either paternal or maternal ancestry.

That was all about the kinds of mutations you can get in Ark Survival Evolved.
