Helicopters and gliders will be coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator on November 11, along with many iconic old planes, as well as other airports and helipads.

Last June, we learned that helicopters and gliders were coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator, but players will probably be pleased to know they’re coming sooner than expected. Indeed, developer Asobo Studio announced that these machines will arrive on November 22nd, but they will finally become available a few days before that, on November 11th.

This date corresponds to the release date of the 40th Anniversary Edition of the game, which will be offered as a free update to anyone who has purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to use it at no additional cost. On the same day, Asobo Studio will add another device highly requested by the community – an ultra-realistic airliner. Nearly all buttons on the Airbus A-310 will work as expected, according to a Microsoft Flight Simulator executive in a post on the Xbox Blog.

Like many iconic old planes

Some old iconic aircraft will also appear in the game, including the 1947 Hughes H-4 Hercules, also known as the Spruce Goose. It is the largest seaplane and wooden aircraft ever built. On November 11th, Asobo will add 12 aircraft, four classic commercial airports, 10 glider airports, 14 helipads, and 20 missions from previous games. The studio has also released its first city update for Microsoft Flight Simulator with photogrammetry improvements for the German cities of Hannover, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Bonn and Cologne. This update coincides with Gamescom, which took place August 19-23, 2009 in Cologne.
