iPhone 14 Pro: Apollo app adds Tamagotchi-style creature to Dynamic Island

Add a Tamagotchi-like creature to your iPhone’s Dynamic Island, a fun idea from the creator of the Apollo app. And this is just the beginning.

Apple formalized its iPhone 14 a few days ago. As usual, this new generation has its share of novelties, more or less useful, more or less appreciated. Dynamic Island, the new notch on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, will have to prove itself. But now the developers have interesting or at least quite funny ideas.

Add a Tamagotchi-like creature to your iPhone’s dynamic island.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have only recently hit the hands of early adopters, and developers are already getting excited about the new features they have to offer. This is especially true of the Dynamic Island interface. Apollo app creator Christian Selig, for example, updated his Reddit client to support “Pixel Pals”.

This feature adds a Tamagotchi-like creature that does cute little things on your phone’s Dynamic Island when you have the Apollo app open. You can even choose from multiple creatures including a cat, dog, hedgehog, fox, or even an axolotl.

If you don’t have an iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max, don’t panic. You can also add creatures to your phone using the lock screen widget – assuming you have iOS 16 installed, of course. Speaking of iPhone widgets, by the way, Google recently announced a widget that will serve as a shortcut to Chrome’s dinosaur game.

And this is just the beginning

Christian Selig isn’t the only one with a creative idea for Dynamic Island for the iPhone 14 Pro. In a tweet discovered by The Verge, WaterMinder creator Chriss Smolka shows off Hit the Island, a game that uses this UI element to make it look like pong. You can download it from the App Store.

Okay, I think I found the best idea for Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro. I added a cat that lives there like a Tamagotchi and just hangs out and does cute things while you browse Reddit on my app (Apollo). pic.twitter.com/xJJlazHH4E

Who has an iPhone 14 Pro now? We need to test this on the device as soon as possible!
