Far Cry 6 performance issues on PC: This could be the reason why the game won’t launch on your PC
Far Cry 6 was a big enough launch, and as with seemingly every big AAA launch in the last few years, it’s been causing quite a bit of controversy. While the game was not controversial on consoles, its PC version seems to have suffered a number of performance issues that result in FPS drops despite the game being run on fairly powerful hardware.
Of all the fixes currently available for the performance issue, a Reddit user seems to have found the one that worked the best – which is pretty ironic. Ubisoft’s own overlay seems to have caused a performance hit for this particular Reddit user u/contrabardus, as well as many others who seem to agree.
By disabling the Ubisoft Connect overlay, the user was able to significantly increase the frame rate.
Ubisoft Connect overlay may interfere with Far Cry on PC
The user explained that with the overlay enabled, the frame rate often fluctuated between 48 and about 70 fps with graphics settings maxed out and frame limiter disabled. This was on relatively powerful hardware, as contrabardus explains they ran the game on the following specs:
Processor: Ryzen 3950x
GPU: Nvidia 3080Ti
Memory: 36GB RAM
Here’s how you can disable the Ubisoft Connect overlay on your PC, however, keep in mind that disabling the overlay will block access to all features provided by Ubisoft Connect, such as multiplayer and co-op:
- Launch Ubisoft Connect with the “.exe”file.
- Access settings in the upper right corner of the screen.
- In the General section, uncheck “Enable In-Game Overlay”.
This will disable the Ubisoft Connect overlay, which can help resolve performance issues for Far Cry 6 players on PC. Ubisoft will likely release a patch in the next few weeks to address this issue, but for now, this seems to be the next best fix for Far Cry 6 on PC.
