Lucy: continuation of the series without Scarlett Johansson
A spin-off “Lucy”is in development.
EuropaCorp and Village Roadshow, owned by New York-based Vine Alternative Investments, will once again team up to develop and produce a spin-off of the Lucy series. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now. American comedian Morgan Freeman is also in talks to reprise his role as Professor Samuel Norman, which should not be the case with Scarlett Johansson, who played Lucy Miller, the heroine of Luc Besson’s film, which tells the story of a woman gaining psychokinetic powers when a drug is absorbed into her bloodstream..

With 53.5 million admissions and $460 million in global box office revenue, Lucie became the most successful French film abroad, ahead of Hostage 2 (47.8 million), The Fifth Element (35.7 million) and The Untouchables. (31.9 million). The budget for its implementation amounted to almost 50 million dollars.

EuropaCorp, founded by Luc Besson in 1992 as Leeloo Productions, has begun producing films and series based on its well-known franchises such as Lucy and The Transporter, as well as original films. Lucy is EuropaCorp’s second approved project since the production company was acquired by Vine Alternative Investments in 2019 due to financial problems.
