Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: where to catch iron spikes
Iron Thorns are part of the unlockables after playing Pokemon Violet. This Rock/Electric dual-type Pokémon is a robotic version of Tyranitar. Compared to previous iterations, these games have loads of content to explore. Along with the standard Victory Road, you get two more storylines. But the game doesn’t end there. You still need to explore Zone Zero. There will be some Paradox Pokémon in this area, which you must prevent from getting into Paldea. To catch Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you need to head to Area Zero Gate. To do this, you need to go through all three storylines in this game. You can check out our guide on how to get to Zone Zero for more information. Once you unlock this area, you will be able to travel to the Paldea Great Crater and enter the Zero Gate. Inside, you’ll find a brand new biome with Pokémon exclusive to that area. Among them you will find this metallic tyranitar.
The best place to find the Iron Spike in Zone Zero is near Research Station One. These stations act as checkpoints in this area and you must unlock them. To unlock Research Station 1, you need to defeat Glymmore, a Rock/Poison dual-type Pokémon. Once you have unlocked it, we suggest that you search around this station and you will find Iron Thorns.
To catch him, you will have to weaken him in combat. As we mentioned, this is a Rock/Electric dual-type Pokémon. Thus, combat, water, earth and grass techniques will be effective against him. We also suggest that you carry a Pokemon with a False Swipe move. This ensures that the Iron Spikes don’t accidentally pass out.
