Xiaomi has finally started rolling out the Android 11 stable update for its best-selling Redmi Note 8 in 2019. Yes, you read it right. Android 2020 version for the phone towards the end of 2021. The update has been long overdue and users have been eagerly waiting for it. For those who don’t know, the company released the Android 11 update to the phone back in March in China. Several users took to Twitter to share the development. Redmi Note 8 Android 11 update comes with MIUI firmware version 12.0.1.0.RCOINXM and weighs over 2GB.

Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.0.1.0 Changelog Updates, Optimized System Performance, Enhanced System Security and Stability

Xiaomi didn’t mention the update much in the changelogs, but the update brings the updated October Android security patch along with the usual features of Android 11. The update also includes a 1GB memory expansion, which is Xiaomi’s version of virtual memory. It is worth noting that the phone is receiving the MIUI 12 update based on Andorid 11 and not the MIUI 12.5 update. Thus, Redmi Note 8 users will have to wait for some more time to be able to enjoy the latest MIUI features on their device.

As usual, this should be a phased rollout, so it may take some time before the update hits your device. Android OEMs are following a phased rollout to minimize the impact of critical bugs. We can expect the brand to roll out the Android 11 update to all Redmi Note 8 users in the next few days. Redmi Note 8 is 2 years old and has already received two Android version updates, namely Android 10 and Android 11. This means that the phone will not receive another Android platform update in the future. However, we can expect the company to update it to MIUI 12.5 and possibly MIUI 13 in the future.
