So let’s get started with some beginner tips and tricks to get you started on God of War Ragnarok:
Repeat knowledge
To get the true essence of God of War Ragnarok, it is recommended to go through the full GoW review (2018). Before diving into the gameplay, click on the God of War Recap option located right at the top of the main menu. The summary covers all the critical points of the previous part and will help you to fully immerse yourself in the Scandinavian saga.
Explore nine worlds
The first thing to keep in mind when you start is to carefully research each region. All of the Nine Realms have different hidden red, legendary, and Nornir puzzle chests. But don’t forget to grind for them. Instead of following your companion, find these chests off the beaten track. This can help you unlock multiple chests. Initially, try to get as many crafting resources as possible.
Break random objects
Although Kratos is not as berserk as we used to know, breaking things can reward him handsomely. Most objects like vases, wooden planks and more can help you get Hacksilver faster. It can also help you collect collectibles and artifacts.
Earn early experience
As you progress, there are several side quests that you can complete to earn XP. These are the various Labors and Favor side quests that you can complete. While these quests are optional, they can reward you with XP. Speaking of Favor, help a few residents of the Nine Realms to gain XP. You can also complete multiple skill jobs to level up your various skills. You can earn some XP Kratos or Atreus XP for completing each level.
Use Mystic Gateways for Healing – The Best Advice for Beginners
While this game mechanism is inexplicable, it can help restore your stats. When you use these Mystic Gates in the Realms, all of your stats are replenished. It can be used strategically before battle for a full health bar and other stats. So it can help you a lot after fighting strong bosses like Vanadis Valkyrie or Thor during the first Path quest.
Try different shields in God of War Ragnarok
Unlike GoW (2018), God of War Ragnarok has five shields that you can use. Each of these shields has different bonuses and buffs. So be sure to try all these shields. Some shields can be obtained as loot, and some can be purchased directly from the Hulda brothers. After you complete the Surviving Fimbulwinter quest, you will be given the choice between Stonewall Shield and Dauntless Shield. By choosing one of them, you can create it later in the workshop using 1 slag deposit and 750 Hacksilver.
Look for prey in the waters
You can find several crafting resources and a Hacksilver barrel as you sail through the waters of Svartalfheim. Also, don’t forget to collect the hanging blue dewdrops. These dewdrops are the dew of Yggdrasil that can permanently increase one of your stats. If you want to grab the loot right away, we suggest enabling the auto-collection option in Accessibility settings.
Use Spartan Fury frequently
If you’ve played the previous games, you may be familiar with the concept of Spartan Rage. When the odds are against Kratos, use Spartan Fury to stun or hit nearby enemies. With Spartan Rage, you can repel hordes of enemies that will overwhelm you. It can help you through tough times and serious boss fights. Not today, One!
Listen to your companions
During combat, if you listen to Atreus’ summons, it can help you parry or dodge your opponent. Countering various attacks is one thing, but knowing their exact location is quite another. This includes listening to Mimir during fights. By listening to your companions, you can gain an advantage over your opponents.
That’s all for beginner tips and what to do first in God of War Ragnarok.
