Splinter Cell Remake: no rush in development
French publisher Ubisoft celebrates the 20th anniversary of Splinter Cell with new details about the remake of the famous undercover first-person shooter.
“This is not just a remaster,” creative director Chris Auty said of the Splinter Cell remake, which will run on an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine graphics engine. “It’s built from scratch. All content is created from scratch, original and without any difficulties. Zavian Porter, Associate Director of Level Design for Splinter Cell Remake at Ubisoft, continues: “We are committed to creating a high-level remake and maximizing quality. This should help us lay a good foundation for the future development of the franchise.”
Chris Auty adds that we’ll have to wait a long time before seeing the Splinter Cell remake in action, but fans shouldn’t be disappointed with the result:
We have just started production. We are still in the prototyping stage. We don’t want to rush anything. We want to make sure that the game is absolutely perfect, that everything is done right, and that we create an experience of exceptional quality. We are going to take a break for a while to focus on making the game the best it can be.
