Gods and Monsters, the first chapter of the new DC Universe

A connected story for iconic DC Comics characters and licenses for movies, TV shows, and animated series.

All new DC Studios projects take place in the same universe and often share common characters. However, while they are not included in Gods and Monsters, there will be films set outside of the new DC Universe, such as Joker: Madness for Two (October 4, 2024) from director Todd Phillips and Batman. Part II (October 3, 2025) directed by Matt Reeves.

  • Superman: Legacy. Written by James Gunn, the film will hit theaters on July 11, 2025 and will focus on Superman as he must balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.
  • The Authority – WildStorm characters will join the DCU as members of the Authority take matters into their own hands to do what they think is right.
  • Brave and Bold – The DCU will feature Batman and Robin in this extraordinary father-son story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic book series.
  • Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is a sci-fi adventure based on Tom King’s amazing and award-winning stories from recent comics, a Supergirl that viewers aren’t used to seeing.
  • Swamp Thing – the film will tell about the dark origins of the Swamp Thing, a swamp creature.

  • Creature Commandos is a seven-episode animated series in which Amanda Waller creates a covert ops team from monster prisoners; James Gunn wrote all episodes of the first season.
  • Waller – Starring Viola Davis, this series focuses on Team Peacemaker and is written by Crystal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Supernatural).
  • Booster Gold – Michael John Carter uses advanced technology from the future to impersonate a superhero of the present.
  • Lanterns – This massive television series follows intergalactic cops John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they uncover a dark secret.
  • Lost heaven. Set in Themyscira, home of the Amazons and Wonder Woman’s birthplace, this drama series focuses on the origins and political intrigues of a female-only island.
