Cowabunga updated to version 7.0 with key-password settings, MacDirtyCow improvements and more…

Cowabunga, a popular app from iOS developers leminlimez and sourcelocation for tweaking various system elements on iOS and iPadOS 15.x-16.1.2 devices using the MacDirtyCow exploit, has been updated to version 7.0 this weekend with many new features and improvements.

Formerly known as DockHider, the rebranded Cowabunga app is based on a number of things that can be customized to offer as many versatile customization options as possible in a single app for MacDirtyCow. This convenience means that users won’t need to download multiple different apps to complete the same settings.

In a thread posted to /r/jailbreak late Friday night, leminlimez shared some information about what’s new in Cowabunga, including the following:

• User Access Codes
• Import password themes (.passthm) from TrollTools
• Additional Tools
• Footnote on lock screen
• Improved reliability of exploits

According to leminlimez, this version of Cowabunga includes @zhuowei’s latest MacDirtyCow exploit code, which means it’s more stable than before and offers more customization options. Leminlimez also said that in version 6.1.0 they quietly added the ability to change operator text, but noted that it does not work for all operators.

The developer also added that this version ported several TrollTools features that don’t use private APIs, and made some adjustments to how Cowabunga uses and enforces the MacDirtyCow exploit. Recent changes have made the application much more reliable for users.

Please note that no jailbreak is required to use Cowabunga. Simply download the app to any iOS or iPadOS 15.x-16.1.2 device using AltStore or Sideloady and the MacDirtyCow bug will take care of the rest.
