ETHN Releases Rootless Version of Popular StepUp Jailbreak Tweak With Volume Button Sensitivity

If you’re jailbreaking iOS 15 or iOS 16 without root, you might want to check out the new free StepUp-Rootless tweak from iOS developer ETHN.

StepUp-Rootless is a jailbreak-supported, non-rooted version of the widely popular ETHN StepUp jailbreak tweak that allows users to change the amount of volume control each press of the volume up or down button will have.

For example, pressing the volume up or down button usually has little effect on the overall volume level, but with StepUp-Rootless you can make it so that each button press changes the volume level by a large amount, such as 25% or 50% at a time, simply to give some examples.

This setting comes in handy if you think it takes too long to reach the optimal volume level, or if you want to fine-tune the volume buttons more than they do now for more granular volume control without using the Control Center sliders . .

Once installed, StepUp-Rootless adds a customized settings panel to the Settings app, where users can customize the tweak to suit their needs:

Here users will be able to:

• Enable or disable StepUp-Rootless on request
• Adjust the step size of the volume button when using the speaker using the slider.
• Adjust the step size of the volume button when using headphones using the slider

When adjusting the sliders, it’s important to note that dragging the slider further to the left makes each volume button press less effective, while dragging the slider further to the right makes each volume button press more effective. Efficiency in this context simply means more or less effect on the volume level each time the button is pressed.

The “Apply”button in the upper right corner of the settings panel in the form of a checkmark button allows the user to save and apply their changes.

Although this version of the tweak is designed for a no-root jailbreak, it is just as effective as the original no-root jailbreak tweak. We especially like that developers are starting to shift their work to rootless dynamics, as this seems to be the future of jailbreak.
