Forza Motorsport returns to its competitive roots
Turn 10 Studios wants to offer a true generational leap in terms of realism, authenticity and immersion in car simulation with Forza Motorsport.
Like Gran Turismo on PlayStation consoles, Forza Motorsport on Xbox consoles has always been known for its graphical fidelity, so it’s no surprise that Turn 10 Studios is once again touting the realism of the new version of their car simulator thanks to the physics system. as detailed as ever:
We improved the look of cars with a spectrophotometer that records multiple data points on a surface to analyze how light behaves on it. With this new technique, our models respond more realistically to light, whether it be colors, metal sheen, or sheen levels. Damage and dust on cars are calculated based on the context in an authentic way and this is different for each car, for example dust will accumulate more in certain corners and niches.

Chris Esaki, creative director of Forza Motorsport, also reports that the sound will be more immersive:
We’ve teamed up with Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos to create a more immersive audio experience for the next generation of Forza Motorsport. Each sound system has been redesigned to create an immersive soundscape and deliver a new level of acoustic depth and authenticity. For the series, sound development is a 20-year legacy, we continue to use state-of-the-art technology to improve the sound of our cars and get as close to reality as possible. In particular, we’ve improved the sound of the tires and suspension, exhaust, and turbos to sound like their real-life counterparts. New features such as localized commentators will provide an unparalleled sound experience.
Forza Motorsport will be available later this year on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC (Steam/Microsoft Store), as well as Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming. In addition to improved tracks, new locations and a garage for 500 cars (old and new models), the American studio Turn 10 Studios promises 4K at 60 frames per second, as well as ray tracing.
