How to pair Scarlet and Violet with Pokemon GO

With the Scarlet and Violet 1.2.0 update, players can now connect their games to Pokemon GO. This is necessary if you plan to catch the roaming form of Gimmigulus in Pokemon GO. But besides this, this feature has many advantages. Here’s how you can quickly link your Pokemon GO account to Pokemon Scarlet or Violet and start sending cards.

How to link Pokemon GO with Scarlet and Violet

To connect Pokemon GO and Scarlet or Violet, make sure you update to version 1.2.0 of each of the respective apps. Before starting the process, also prepare your respective devices and launch both games. Now do the following:

• In Pokémon GO:
  • Click on the pokeball in the bottom center.
  • Then click “Settings”in the upper right corner.
  • Scroll down and select Connected Devices and Services.
  • Here select Nintendo Switch.
  • Finally, click “Connect to Nintendo Switch”.

• In Pokemon Scarlet or Violet:
  • Press X to open the menu.
  • Here, select the Poke Portal, then select the Mystery Gift.
  • Now select “Connect to Pokemon GO”.
  • Select Link to Pokemon GO Account.
  • You should receive a pairing request from your Pokemon GO that you previously submitted. Select “Yes”when asked if you want to pair with this account.

Your Pokemon GO will now be paired with your Pokemon Scarlet or Violet.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to transfer Pokémon from both games directly. To transfer Pokemon from GO to Scarlet or Violet, you will need to use Pokemon HOME. This service is not yet compatible with Scarlet & Violet, but will be available by Spring 2023.

What to do after connecting Pokemon GO to SV?

After pairing Pokemon GO with the Gimmigul app, you can send cards from Pokemon GO to Scarlet and Violet. These cards will allow you to receive Gimmigul coins and other rewards. You can send one postcard each day.
