Crystal Dynamics will release the final balance patch and close the Marvel’s Avengers in-game store on March 31st. On the same day, players will see their remaining credit balance automatically converted into in-game resources in the proportions shown in the table below. Additionally, “in exchange for the high praise from our community,”Crystal Dynamics explains that cosmetic items previously only available through the Marketplace will be offered for free to all players who own a copy of the game.

After official support ends on September 30th, players will still be able to play Marvel’s Avengers solo or with their friends via Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus. “The changes we are making to how the game works will help ensure the longest life possible,” explained the developer. “However, after September 30, 2023, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to resolve all emerging issues.” Crystal Dynamics also pointed to the end of support for this game “in conjunction with [its] partners”.

The end of Marvel’s Avengers came as no surprise to fans. In November 2020, just two months after the game’s launch, publisher Square Enix stated that it had failed to break even for the game, and since then, the company seemed reluctant to invest in the project. Then, last May, Square sold Crystal Dynamics to the Embracer Group. In December, the studio announced that it was working with Amazon on a new Tomb Raider game. So many signs left no hope for Marvel’s Avengers.
