Tecno is working with Samsung on an RGBW camera sensor after brand photography last week

Tecno Mobiles, the value-focused smartphone brand operated by Transsion Holdings, will reportedly feature a new Samsung image sensor that uses an RGBW pixel array. At a recent conference, the company reportedly mentioned the Samsung Isocell GWB, an upcoming mobile image sensor that adds a white pixel to red, green, and blue pixels. The latter is not a completely new strategy, so it remains to be seen how it actually affects images captured with this sensor.

Samsung Isocell GWB is reportedly a 64MP RGBW sensor. Adding a white pixel will likely help the sensor improve its overall sensitivity to light, which in turn can help improve low-light shots. Taunting images seem to require less background flare in a more lit environment, and more balanced contrast levels when images are shot against darker backgrounds.

It’s unclear at this time when said sensor will be seen in action. Given that Tecno is said to be Samsung’s partner for this, reports indicate that the Tecno smartphone, which will be released sometime in early 2022, is likely to be the device that will feature the sensor. There is no confirmed word on whether this could happen before early 2022, when Samsung is expected to launch its own line of flagship smartphones, the alleged Galaxy S22 series.

The collaboration comes at a time when reports indicate Tecno has recently been spotted digging up Samsung and a perceived lack of smartphone diversity in its portfolio. The Tecno teaser reportedly urged users not to be swayed by “the same song”and instead choose the best one – perhaps from their own portfolio.

In the meantime, Samsung has been quite experimenting with its smartphones. The company has one of the most affordable smartphone series with foldable displays, the Galaxy Z series. It also has more conventional flagships from the Galaxy S series of devices. The company also manufactures its own processors, connectivity chips, and its own image sensors, making it one of the most well-known manufacturers. industrial and consumer technologies worldwide.
