Xbox Remix Special Edition: Recycled Wireless Controller

Microsoft is putting itself under environmental control.

Having failed to tie up quality exclusives as usual, American publisher Microsoft continues to ship its catalog of Xbox Remix Special Edition controllers. In addition to the “earth-like”green-brown color to reflect our impact on the planet and the means to reduce it, it stands out for its manufacturing process (recycled plastic, re-granulated or reclaimed materials) and its unique look for each model (subtle variations, swirls, marks, different textures).

Compatible with Xbox consoles, smartphones and PCs, the Microsoft Xbox Remix Special Edition Wireless Controller is currently available for pre-order for €84.99. The release is scheduled for April 18 in the Microsoft Store and April 25 in other stores.

Xbox Remix Special Edition Development Process

Daniel Ruiz, senior director of marketing for Xbox accessories at Microsoft, said:

Regranulation is the process of recycling elements of the Xbox One controllers into a material that can be used to create new controllers, while maintaining the strength and performance of the latter. Recycled resins are made from recycled materials such as headlight covers, water containers or CDs. By choosing these different materials and adding a rechargeable battery to the controller, Xbox aims to use less new plastic in order to cut down on waste. Our goal is to support our fans on this journey of sustainability for all Xbox products. When designing the Remix Special Edition controller, we drew inspiration from natural landscapes and the world around us. Various colors reminiscent of the Earth create a patchwork effect, luminous tones give the interior a rich style, yet full of serenity. The light green color of the Xbox button, D-pad and front of the controller is inspired by the lichens that grow in the temperate rainforests of the Pacific Ocean. Slice buttons, triggers and knobs feature a topographical pattern that recalls the ever-changing landscapes of the Earth while retaining your favorite texture. The rechargeable battery included in the package allows you to play without disposable batteries. Charge your controller during or after your gaming sessions, up to 4 hours of charging will let you enjoy up to 30 hours of battery life. At the bottom of the controller you will find a jack 3 port, reminiscent of the ever-changing landscapes of the Earth and retaining your favorite texture.
