macOS universal management delayed until spring 2022

Apple is postponing the launch of its Universal Control until Spring 2022, looks like it’s time for more work.

Among the many new features Apple announced during WWDC 2021 as part of the macOS updates was universal control. That being said, despite the official announcement and launch that was originally scheduled for 2021, the latest macOS update still lacks it. And unfortunately it looks like we’ll have to wait until next year before we can take advantage of that.

Apple delays launch of its universal controller until spring 2022

If the update made on Apple’s site is to be believed, we can read that now universal governance is expected next spring. This means that the feature should generally arrive no earlier than March 2022 or no later than June 2022, provided we are not entitled to further delays. Prior to this, the site of the company from Cupertino assumed the arrival in the fall of 2021, but now this niche is behind us.

If you’re hearing about this feature for the first time, you’ll know that Universal Control is a new feature for macOS and iPad. This allows users to switch between devices very quickly and easily. For example, if you’re working on your Mac and need to move files to your iPad, just drag and drop and you’re done.

Time to refine things further

This new option will also let you type something on your Mac and see how the text appears on your iPad. While the Cupertino-based company already offers features like universal clipboard to copy and paste content between your various devices and Handoff to pick up things exactly where you left them, universal management goes even further.

In any case, it’s best that Apple take their time before rolling out this feature to make sure everything works perfectly. Otherwise, we would end up with incorrect functionality, more or less usable and daily frustration.
