Dota 2 is now compatible with controllers

Valve is updating Dota 2 and making the game compatible with controllers. This should please a lot of players.

Valve has some good ideas about the future of PC gaming. For example, instead of playing on your desktop or laptop, you will soon be able to play your favorite PC games on a portable console. The American company has already tested this with Steam Link, an application that allows you to stream Steam games from PC to smartphone. Today Valve goes further.

Valve updates Dota 2 and makes the game compatible with controllers

The studio is also working on the Steam Deck, a dedicated portable console that lets you play Steam games wherever you are. So it’s not surprising that the company is currently preparing some of its games for controller compatibility. Moreover, the recent Dota 2 update is heading in that direction.

This should please a lot of players.

According to Valve, “Because the realities of Continuum are intertwined in a very mysterious way, today’s update also introduces a world where Dota can be played on a controller instead of the traditional keyboard and mouse configuration, providing players with a new way to enjoy their favorite game. From choosing a hero to defeating the Ancient One, you can pave your way to Dota victory by connecting any Steam Input compatible PC controller (including PS/Xbox/Switch Pro controllers and more) and lead your hero into battle.”

Valve also indicates that this feature remains experimental for now. In other words, don’t panic if everything doesn’t work perfectly. In any case, having an alternative method is good, for those and those who would prefer to play such a game on a controller, it’s always nice to have a choice.
