OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone could be identical to the Oppo Find N
OnePlus has consistently promoted its flagship smartphones in India every year. The company is trying to compete in the premium smartphone segment this year with its recently launched OnePlus 10. However, the Chinese tech firm may soon compete in the foldable smartphone segment as well. There’s no confirmation from the company itself, but the consultant seems to have some speculation about OnePlus’ future plans for its world’s first foldable phone. The introduction of a foldable device will put OnePlus on par with Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, Honor and its parent firm Oppo.
According to a leaker named Yogesh Brar (via Pricebaba), OnePlus is already working on its first foldable smartphone. Unfortunately, there are few details about the launch date or specifications of this smartphone. At this point, your guess is as good as ours. However, a tipster is talking about a possible OnePlus foldable phone design.
OnePlus foldable phone could get Oppo Find N design
It has been reported that OnePlus may be borrowing the same design currently showcased by the Oppo Find N, Oppo’s first foldable phone. The device never officially entered the Indian markets. So, we hope that OnePlus can release a similar device to enter one of its biggest markets, India. At the moment, the foldable smartphone industry in India is mostly dominated by Samsung. The firm has already launched several foldable devices in the country in the form of the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series. We also have Motorola in the race with their rather limited edition Moto Razr.
OnePlus’ development of a foldable smartphone shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans. This is because parent company Oppo has already launched its Find N foldable phones, while sister brand Vivo is also gearing up to launch its first foldable phone next week in China. Oppo also announced a closer integration with OnePlus, hinting that the two will share some software and hardware resources in the future. Rumor has it that other sister brands Realme and iQoo are also working on foldable devices.
OnePlus foldable phone and Android 12L integration
The rumors are backed up by a report in February that suggests that OnePlus may be releasing its own tablet called the OnePlus Pad running Android 12L. For those who don’t know, Google Android 12L is a version of Android 12 specifically designed for tablets and foldable devices. If OnePlus is already working on an Android 12L tablet, it should be easy for the company to integrate the OS into its rumored foldable smartphone. With Android 12L, you get an expanded notification tray, an updated user interface to make better use of the big screen, improved multitasking capabilities, and more.
