Bend Studio: new logo and new license information
Looking to the future, Bend Studio is modernizing its logo.
Shay Casey, Associate Artistic Director (Brand & UI) at Bend Studio, explains the symbolic and graphical representation of the new Sony Interactive Entertainment subsidiary logo present at PlayStation Studios: “We wanted to develop a new graphic identity as before, abstract and minimalist. We had in mind the idea of a simple geometric pattern that evokes constant movement and a certain amount of creativity.
Gamers could easily recognize such a logo on the street without seeing the name of the studio. And what over time has become synonymous with video games, as the famous comma has become for sportswear. With all of this in mind, we have chosen a design that is resolutely future-oriented and exemplifies Bend Studio’s commitment to technical innovation. The letters have been processed to run parallel to the leading edge of the outer triangle while maintaining a non-italic style.
The waterfall in the center of the logo abstractly resembles the many mountain peaks that underline our life in Oregon and define our landscapes. We can also note a small cut in I, reminiscent of a sawmill chimney and testifying to Bend’s logging past before the city became a popular destination for many of the outdoor activities it offers.
Kevin McAllister, Communications Manager at Bend Studio, also reveals new information about a new PS5 license in development, which could be action and infiltration mechanics mixed with Hitman and Metal Gear. Solid: “Our new logo marks the beginning of a new era for Bend studio. As members of the PlayStation Studios family, we are committed to providing you with an exceptional experience that will remain in your memory forever. Today we are happy to share with you a little news about our current project. We are currently working on a new license that includes multiplayer and is based on Days Gone’s open world systems. but bring you a whole new world that we will gladly create for you. We look forward to telling you more when the time comes.”
