Halo Infinite: Microsoft wants you to spend up to $1,035 on in-game cosmetics

Halo Infinite has been in the spotlight of the gaming community for many years now, and it’s only a few weeks away from release, or at least until the campaign itself. Microsoft and 343 Industries decided to make the multiplayer mode available to players a whole month before the game’s official launch, and it was received very positively.

However, there is also a growing concern in the Halo community that makes them think about the free-to-play nature of the game, determining how the battle pass progresses, character customization, and cosmetics. This issue stemmed from a recent leak that revealed all the store packs from the Halo Infinite multiplayer, and combined with the fact that players can’t unlock items in-game, there might be cause for concern.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer May Have a Major Problem With Microtransactions

Reddit user samurai1226 recently posted a post calculating the total amount of money it would take to unlock all 88 sets in the Store. According to their calculations, it will take about $1035 to unlock each set in the store containing cosmetics.

Luckily, these Shop Packs only contain cosmetics, which means that none of them will provide any gameplay benefits. However, it’s a little disappointing to learn that players won’t be able to customize their characters to the degree they’d ideally like with simple gameplay. While some armor sets will be available for free in Halo Infinite, the vast majority will be locked behind microtransactions only available with the purchase of the Battle Pass.

Ultimately, most free-to-play games tend to follow this model, so it’s not surprising that Halo Infinite will follow this path as well. It will be interesting to see if 343 and Microsoft drop this decision and eventually allow players to unlock cosmetics through gameplay, as was possible in previous Halo games.
