Age of Empires IV may be coming to Xbox
Age of Empires IV may be coming to Xbox. This possibility is hinted at by a link in the codex and a statement in an interview.
For many years, video games have been featured on many platforms. Aside from some exclusives, it is clear that fans can enjoy a certain game on the platforms of their choice, studios and publishers are doing their best to increase the number of supported games and, in fact, reach a wider audience. However, some games seem to be “stuck”on such and such a platform. This is the case of Age of Empires IV, for example.
Age of Empires IV may be coming to Xbox
Real-time strategy (RTS) is a very popular genre. There are many licenses in this category, the most famous of which is probably Microsoft’s Age of Empires. Along with a saga like Blizzard’s StarCraft, to name just that. Others are usually released on PC, but there’s a small chance that Age of Empires IV will make it to consoles.
At least that’s what @ALumia_Italia’s tweet revealed, suggesting a port of the game might be in development for Xbox consoles. According to the account in question, there will be a mention of a game corresponding to the code name “CAR”, which, according to the Video Game Chronicle, is the internal title of the Age of Empires IV project at Microsoft.
Mentioned in code and said in an interview
None of this is all that surprising, as MobileSyrup was able to talk to Michael Mann, executive producer of World’s Edge – the studio to which we owe Age of Empires IV – the possibility of a console-only release. Michael Mann didn’t deny the possibility, but preferred to push for the teams’ current efforts, which were backed by the release of the game on PC.
Now that Age of Empires IV is out on PC, it’s possible that the team is currently working on that Xbox port. At this point, it’s hard to say when the game might be available on a Microsoft console, if at all, but console gamers who’ve always wanted to play the game on their Xbox console can certainly expect something on that front.
