Alan Wake: AMC returns the film rights to the television series
The Alan Wake series is not cancelled.
Developed over four years by Contradiction Films and Remedy Entertainment with Peter Calloway (Cloak and Dagger, Legion, Under the Dome) as showrunner and writer, and game director Sam Lake as executive producer, the television series Alan Wake found a partner to make the project materialize: “AMC, the wonderful home of absolutely brilliant television series, has bought the rights. We don’t have much more to share at this time, but we’ll be sure to let you know when we have something to announce. ”
Alan Wake on AMC is the latest example of the TV world’s growing interest in video games. HBO is preparing The Last Of Us, Peacock will take on Twisted Metal, and Amazon is adapting God of War, Fallout and Mass Effect with Prime Video.

For reference, Alan Wake (first released on Xbox 360 and Windows PC in 2010, then in October 2021 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One) follows writer Alan Wake as he seeks to uncover the truth about his wife’s mysterious disappearance in the fictional town of Bright Falls. In the course of his investigation, Alan discovers that key events from his latest book are coming to life. The license was then renewed in 2012 with the spin-off Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. Shown at The Game Awards 2021, Alan Wake 2 is in development and will release in 2023.
