Amazon bets on video game adaptations to boost Prime Video catalog
In addition to the Fallout TV series, the Amazon Prime Video platform will also stream future small and big screen adaptations of the Life is Strange, It Takes Two, and Disco Elysium licenses.
Through a partnership with Amazon, transmedia production company dj2 Entertainment will be responsible for creating content that will air exclusively on Prime Video, including series or adaptations of popular licenses. Life is Strange, It Takes Two and Disco Elysium are the first three projects in development. But soon they should be joined by the series Ruiner, the series Little Nightmare, the film Spleeping Dogs and the film Echo.
“The dj2 Entertainment team has long believed that one day video games will serve as an incredible source of storytelling for television and film, and that only a lack of love and respect for the art form has prevented successful adaptations in the past. Dmitry M. Johnson said. “ In addition, I am honored to have Amazon Prime Video as a platform partner. A great collaborator who really supports us and our great ambition to tell the best international video game stories, with no limits to how high our collective goals are.” Nick Pepper, Head of Creative Content at Amazon Studios, added: “I can’t say how happy we are with dj2 Entertainment. Their experience and skills in the on-screen video game market are second to none. The possibilities are endless for what we can create together for our global audience. “
