AMD Ryzen 7 5825U and Ryzen 5 5675U Reportedly in Development: Here’s What You Need to Know
AMD is working on an update to the Ryzen 5000 APU lineup. The new lineup is nothing more than an updated Lucienne predecessor. The new line is expected to offer better process optimizations and slightly better clock speeds. The new line is called Barcelo and the new line of Ryzen 5000 APUs will include Ryzen 7 5825U and Ryzen 5 5675U. There are already some reports of the ongoing production of even newer APUs compared to the Barcelo line. This information was first posted by a Twitter user named ExcutableFix. If so, then the Ryzen 5000 series will have three families of APUs – Barcelo, Lucienne, and Cezanne. We will explain how to do this later. A Twitter user has already tweeted the Barcelo articles.
AMD updated Renoir to bring in Lucien, and now the same is being done with Cezanne, creating the Barcelo line. Both the latest line of APU Barcelo and APU Lucienna were born from their predecessors. However, they offer better process optimization and clock speeds. Lucienne has been placed in the Ryzen 5000 line alongside the newer Cezanne chips and since Barcelo is an update to the Cezanne line, it should still be in the Ryzen 5000 line. So, this means that the Ryzen 5000 line will now have three families of APUs − Cezanne, Lucienne, Barcelo.
As revealed on Twitter, thanks to the tweet above, Barcelo’s new lineup will include two WeUs – the standard AMD Ryzen 7 5825U APU and the AMD Ryzen 5 5675U, also called the Ryzen 5 Pro 5675U. The Ryzen 7 5825U will have 8 cores and 16 threads, while the Ryzen 5 5675U will have 6 cores and 12 threads. However, there are no details regarding the clock speeds of these members in the Ryzen 5000 family, although some improvements and better efficiency are expected to be seen.
There is also no chance for AMD to update the Cezanne-H line. However, since AMD’s Barcelo APUs are still based on the underlying Cezanne architecture, they may retain Zen 3 cores and feature support for PCIe Gen 3.0 and DDR4. But we’ll have to wait until CES, where AMD is expected to introduce Rembrandt, a significant update to its APUs.
