Ampere is porting the iOS 16 battery level indicator to jailbroken iOS 14 and 15 devices.

In iOS 16, for the first time since the debut of the iPhone X in 2017, for the first time since the debut of the iPhone X in 2017, it introduced its own numeric battery level percentage based on the status bar… *slow pop*.

While many iPhone users are excited to finally have this feature at their disposal, the fact remains that jailbreakers on iOS 15 or earlier will not have access to the native feature, but will instead be able to use third-party alternatives in the form of jailbreak settings. the latest one is called Ampere by iOS developer MTAC.

While most status bar-based numeric percentage battery level settings are based on custom design, Ampere is actually based on iOS 16’s own design. Specifically, the pre-iOS 16.1 design.

In the example screenshot above, you will see that the battery icon is completely full despite being 90% charged. As of iOS 16.1, the full battery icon is dynamic and seems to drain as the battery runs out.

It’s also worth noting that the text in the battery gauge with Ampere is quite small and doesn’t look like native iOS 16 text. Here’s an example of the battery gauge on a real iOS 16 device for comparison:

Ampere does not currently have any options to customize, however users can turn the setting on or off in the Settings app using a dedicated toggle:

Enabling or disabling Ampere will require a respring for it to take effect.

Our first impression of Ampere is that while it displays the battery percentage on the app icon, we would like it to behave more like the native battery level indicator in iOS 16.1 – dynamically reset fill with low battery and display correct size text. The currently free jailbreak tweak BatFill makes this more aesthetically pleasing, but we hope Ampere sees some updates soon.

If you want to try Ampere, you can download it for free from the Havoc repository through your favorite package management app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 14 and 15 devices.
