Analyst claims iPhone 14 Series will get major front camera upgrades in a few years
Apple is rumored to release the iPhone 14 series in September. The company may release four new models, namely the iPhone 14, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max and the new iPhone 14 Max. Rumor has it that the Pro models will get some major upgrades over their predecessor models. Some rumors suggest that the 14 Pro and Pro Max will feature a 48MP triple camera setup. There are reports of an update to the front camera.
Now analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the iPhone 14 series will come with autofocus support for the front camera. Let’s take a look at the specs, features, and other details of the iPhone 14 series.
iPhone 14 Series Front Camera Update
According to a new leak, Apple is about to introduce some major upgrades to the front camera of the iPhone 14 series, which will now feature a 6P lens. In the past, the company has released its iPhone models with a 5P lens. P here means plastic. This means that the front camera will have 6 plastic layers on top to reduce aberrations. Depending on the aperture of the lens, the front camera can also capture more light and take photos with better detail.
Kuo also revealed that the front camera will support autofocus rather than fixed focus. The front camera can then track the subject, lock the focus, and take sharper images than a fixed focus camera.
The analyst added that Apple will partner with LG Innotek, in addition to Sony, Genius and Largan, for various components related to the front camera.
The rear camera on the Pro models will be greatly improved. According to the leaked information, the main camera will be equipped with a 48-megapixel sensor with OIS support. It will be 57% larger than the iPhone 13 Pro sensor. The Pro models will also be able to shoot 8K video. Apple will release devices with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. Non-professional models will get a 12-megapixel dual camera.
The Pro models will also have a hole punch and pill-shaped cutout for the front camera. They will feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED displays. Non-professional models will still have a wide cutout for Face ID sensors and a TrueDepth front camera. Apple will release the iPhone 14 and 14 Max with the rebranded A15 chip, while non-professional models will get the A16 chip.
