After two decades as Meredith Grey, American actress Ellen Pompeo is leaving Grey’s Anatomy.
Despite her departure from Grey’s Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo remains an executive producer and will narrate all episodes of the current season:
I am forever grateful and humbled for the love and support you all have given me, Meredith Gray and the show for 19 seasons! None of this would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You are all “racers”and you all made the trip so fun and so exceptional! I love you madly and thank you in return. This isn’t the first time you’ve been on a roller coaster… you know the show must go on and I’ll definitely be back to visit. With much love and great gratitude.

What a crazy adventure these past 19 seasons have been. None of this would have been possible without the incomparable Ellen Pompeo, the one and only Meredith Grey. It’s not really goodbye, it’s “see you later”! I can’t wait to see what happens next with the Ellen, Meredith and Gray Sloan Memorial.
