Three new Star Wars films announced, including one starring Daisy Ridley as Rey

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced three new Star Wars films. One of them will mark the return of Daisy Ridley dressed as Rey.

The latest Star Wars Celebration is underway and fans have already received a lot of information about upcoming Disney+ content for the next two years. Meanwhile, Lucasfilm has revealed some details about the films in the franchise. The studio has announced no less than three new films, including one that will mark the return of Daisy Ridley dressed as Rey.

Disney and Lucasfilm announce three new Star Wars movies

This movie will take place 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. This will develop around Rey and the formation of a new Jedi Order. The film will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chyna, to whom we owe Ms. Marvel and in particular Save Face.

James Mangold’s Logan, Indiana Jones and the Disc of Doom is about the origins of the Force and the Jedi. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will happen about 25,000 years before anything we’ve ever seen in the Star Wars universe.

Finally, Dave Filoni will get the chance to direct a Star Wars feature film. Dave Filoni has been at the center of the franchise for many years. In 2008, he directed the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has been active in several recent Disney+ series including The Mandalorian, The Boba Fett Book, Ahsoka, and The Skeleton Crew. And the film he’s about to make will tie all these stories together. Thus, the cycle, so to speak, closes.

One of them will mark the return of Daisy Ridley dressed as Rey.

Disney and Lucasfilm have not announced release dates for either of these films. That being said, Disney’s current schedule has room for untitled Star Wars films between late 2025 and 2027.

The last three Star Wars movies are The Last Jedi, Solo, and Rise of Skywalker. Studios have tried many times to launch something new, with Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron, a trilogy of Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, another trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and Taika Waititi and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige.

According to multiple reports, all of these projects have either been dropped or moved to the priority list. Disney and Lucasfilm are obviously hoping that the announcement of these three new films will help restart the hit Star Wars machine in theaters, even if it means fans have to wait several years to see the first one.
