Apex Legends: what are tryout matches?

Apex Legends has just launched a brand new Season 16: Revelry, to the delight of fans around the world. In the new season, the class system will undergo massive changes: exclusive privileges will be added for each class. Along with the new The Nemesis weapons, the game also introduces new game modes. Here is a quick guide on what orientation matches are in Apex Legends.

What are Orientation Matches in Apex Legends?

Orientation Matches is a new game mode that serves as a tutorial for players who are just getting started with Apex Legends. Once you’ve completed the basic tutorial, queue up for an orientation game to get a real sense of what normal Apex matches will be like. Orientation matches can be queued up alone or with friends, and mostly feature AI bots, but you can also meet other new players like yourself. These matches are a great tool for getting familiar with different cards, as well as getting used to the quick reflexes needed to compete in real games.

These matches have been added to the game so that new players can try their hand at all 22 characters in the game. Each of them is divided into four classes, and they are created specifically for a specific role in each squad. Try each character to find the one that best suits your playstyle. Once you have consistently placed in the top five or placed first in several Orientation Matches, you should be ready to play real games against other competitive players.

After the tryouts

After playing Orientation Matches, players can try out these game modes.

  • Battle Royale – team up with a squad of friends or strangers and fight on maps until one of the teams gets to the end. You can play in Duo or Trio mode.
  • Ranked League – A three-mode battle royale where you rank up and compete against players with the same rating until only one team remains.
  • Team Deathmatch. Two teams of six players fight each other until one of them gets 50 kills.

That’s everything you need to know about orientation matches in Apex Legends. Check out other Apex Legends guides for more tips.
