Apex Legends Mobile Earns $4.8M From Player Spending In First Week Of Release: Sensor Tower
Last week, Respawn Entertainment and EA launched Apex Legends Mobile, the mobile version of the famous free-to-play/BR shooter. The title has garnered masses ever since the release announcement was made, and milestones are being recorded within days of its release. A new report from Sensor Tower says the game made nearly $5 million in its first week of release.
Apex Legends Mobile is one of the most anticipated titles for mobile gamers, and EA has cracked that by releasing the game on May 17 globally. The mobile version of the game provides mobile gamers with the entire Apex package for PC and other consoles. Maps, Legends, Weapons, and the developers have also added mobile-exclusive content to the mobile game app.
Apex Legends Mobile: $5 million in first week of release
The game is completely free and requires no money to start playing. Released on May 17, it became the #1 most downloaded app on the App Store in 60 countries. In addition, the mobile version has in-app purchases such as cosmetic items such as weapons, legend skins, battle pass, etc. These will generate income for developers after the player is purchased.
Sensor Tower, a mobile data monitoring venture, estimates that Apex Legends Mobile made $4.8 million in player spending in its first seven days on the App Store and Google Play Store. The United States ranks first in revenue from this game, accounting for 44% ($2.1 million) of total revenue. It is followed by Japan and Thailand.
Apex mobile marks an impressive achievement by beating its industry rival i.e. PUBG Mobile as the game made $600,000 in its first week of release in April 2018. However, the mobile version of Apex Legends failed to cross Call of Duty. Mobile, which made $14.8 million in its first seven days.
According to Sensor Tower, PUBG Mobile has earned over $8 billion in player spending, while Call of Duty Mobile has currently generated $1.5 billion in player lifetime spending. Apex mobile is a real contender that will try to close the gap over time. The console version of the game has already been compared with Warzone.
