Apple iMac with M3 chip may arrive before the end of 2023

Soon Apple iMac with M3 chip? This is what American journalist Mark Gurman thinks he knows.

According to new information from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to release a new 24-inch iMac by the second half of this year. In his latest Power On newsletter, he reports that development of the new iMac models has reached its “final stage”and Apple has recently begun production testing. Mark Gurman expects mass production of this 2023 iMac to begin in just three months, but the good news is that this new generation will come with a host of improvements.

The most important of these is probably the presence of Apple’s own next-generation M3 chip in these 2023 iMacs. Mark Gurman elaborates that this new SoC should deliver significant performance and power management gains, specifically through the use of TSMC’s 3nm engraving process. Other changes may affect various iMac internals, some of which have been redesigned by Apple. The American journalist also explains that the Cupertino-based company plans to use a “different”manufacturing process to mount the iMac leg. Finally, this all-in-one computer will have a 24-inch panel and will be offered in the same shimmery colors as its 2021 predecessor.

In addition to this new iMac, Mark Gurman announces that the company will have a 15-inch model of its MacBook Air ready for marketing, as well as a new version of its 13-inch model and its very first Apple Silicon Mac Pro. He expects these Macs to go on sale between late spring and very early fall. As for whether these new MacBook Airs will be eligible for the M3 chip, it’s less clear that the 13-inch model “at least”could benefit from it, with the Apple brand already offering an M2 version of its ultraportable laptop.
