Apple iPad Pro with wireless charging, iPad Air 5 and iPad 10 due in 2022

Tech giant Apple plans to update three of its iPad models in 2022, according to Bloomberg ‘s Mark Gurman, who has a rich history of predicting Apple updates. According to the Gurman Power On newsletter, the company will update its entry-level iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro next year. He said the new devices will have changes in tablet design, new chips, and some changes in feature sets. The iPad Pro will likely lead the market, but the other two should also hit the market around the same time as the iPad Pro.

Additionally, Gurman’s report states that the 2022 version of the iPad Pro will feature a new design and wireless charging. This could mean that Apple will use glass backs like the iPhone 12 and other iPhones with wireless charging. Gurman didn’t mention the chip that will power this device, but it could be new versions of Apple’s M1 chips for laptops.

On the other hand, the entry-level iPad will obviously get Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset, as well as a True Tone display and a 12MP super wide-angle front camera. Apparently, it will also get a Center Stage feature that allows the user to stay centered in the frame during a video call, no matter how they move. The company last updated entry-level versions of the iPad in 2017, so it’s time to bring a new update to the market. Gurman’s report says it brings the feature set closer to the best Apple tablets right now.

The iPad Air and iPad Pro series are pretty close to each other at the moment, the main difference being the chips they run on. While the iPad Pro runs on M-series chips, the iPad Air still runs on A-series processors.

However, Gurman is not the first to propose these changes. Earlier reports also suggested that entry-level versions of the 2022 iPad will have an overall thinner body, similar to the third-generation iPad Air 3.
