Apple may announce two new Macs at WWDC 2022: reports
Apple is hosting its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starting on June 6 this year. This will be Apple’s third virtual WWDC event in a row. While the main attraction at WWDC has always been software for the Apple ecosystem, this time the company may be announcing a couple of new Macs at the event.
WWDC will start on June 6th and run until June 10th. We are expecting announcements for iOS 16, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. In addition to that, we can expect Apple to make some announcements about the next-generation Apple M2 silicon or the rumored Apple VR headset. A Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman says the mixed reality headset is still iffy for a June announcement and Apple may end up announcing the new hardware at the event.
New Mac announcement at WWDC 2022?
One of the two upcoming Macs is the new MacBook Air. In addition to the new Air, the company is also working on a new-generation Mac mini, a 24-inch iMac, and an affordable MacBook Pro that will replace the old 13-inch model. In addition, new Mac Pro and iMac Pro models are in development.
The new MacBook Air could be powered by Apple’s own M2 chip, which will be the successor to the MacBook Air M1. It is also reported that the new MacBook Air will have a new design, MagSafe support and a 13.3-inch display. In terms of port options, the upcoming machine will feature two USB Type-C ports and a white-colored keyboard layout. As for the MacBook Pro, the device can be equipped with a ProMotion display and two USB Type-C ports.
Also, in terms of software announcements, Apple is expected to announce updates for iOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS 13, and tvOS 16.
